Serpent eyes turn on you, Sapphire eyes of burning blue. Stoic eyes penetrate your thin disguise: The fire dies from your lying eyes. I see the real, frightened little girl in you. My face betrays neither pain nor pleasure: Just quiet strength, strength beyond measure. Child, Child, I only want to heal your wounded heart: Make your wrongs right, rebuild you from the start, But you mistake me, read me wrong, For my love for you is very strong. My little one, come, rest in my arms. I love you, I’ll protect you from all harms. You need not fear, precious one: Without you there is no sun. I love you—can’t you see?— Protecting you strengthens me. |
