. . . DAWNING OF THE LIGHT

Eric Knickerbocker
As the golden rays of east inverse the night,
I blink my sleepy eyes in the dawning light.
One planet divided in two worlds collided:
Dual worlds of syncretism coincided.

   I—will wrench open my eyes.
   I—will sever their ties.
   I—have woken from my slumber.
I—stand apart from a world asunder.

The flow of energy about me abounds:
This subtle harmony the sixth sense astounds.
The ethereal rays playing about the panes,
Their arousing melodies flowing through my veins.

   (Chorus)

I can feel the passion of life inside of me.
Its vigor the groundwork for my philosophy.
Until Earth’s regress a dream of distant past,
Upon my own two legs I stand until my last.

   (Chorus)

Tune into your mind—a diamond glistening.
It’s patiently waiting: are you listening?
Open your weary eyes, my friend. You can cope.
Never fear, my friend, for always there is hope.

   (Chorus)
