When I was a child, I glimpsed a falling star, As clear, silvery voices ascended afar. Dewy lilies encircled the mountain’s side— Awakening spirits of wonder inside. Floating across all the eye can see, Like unto dream, a wisp of memory. Years have passed since upon that time, Yes, more clutter’s invaded my mind. Yet now and again I can go back, And every detail is fully intact. Open my eyes become once again, Whisked back to where my twilight began. Within archèd hallways of marble grand, The king and queen rule with wisdom the land. A host of fairies play in the tassel, Along the road surrounding the castle. Savants are summoned to mark the fun, The spirits gather like as to one. Dance this dance of graceful ecstasy, Spiral with me oh! so! giddily! Gleefully round and around, and faster! Reckless abandon knowing no master! Exhausted at last, we fall to the grass, As flickering fireflies go fluttering past. |
