The simple things of this earth Cause man to revere his birth. So if you wonder why you are, Think of the shimmering star There in the blackened beyond, Casting rays of light upon a pond. Think of the moon above the trees, Pale and strong as darkness flees, The feminine figure of the skies, Soft and golden to the eyes, Driving tears from he who cries. Think of whispering breezes softly blowing, Silver church bells gently tolling, Moonlight mirrored on a rippling river— Bluish patterns of mirrored silver— The deer that drink of the calm pool: Weary man now looks like a fool. When your life gets too involved, And it seems your problems can’t be solved, Think of the things that make you smile: Of the care-freeness of a child. Sit and think on these things, And you’ll find peace at heart it brings. |
