Daniela,
I assume that this is a question you were asked by an instructor for an assignment? If not, I would ask you: "Are you certain that Faulkner's story even
is a universal story that is important around the world?" However, if your instructor is asking you this question, then presumably he or she either believes this to be true or is testing you on your ability to critically process such a question. If this is an assignment, I will give you one hint in how you might solve it: ask yourself, "What makes people the same the world over no matter what language they speak, what god they serve, or what system of government they live under?" If you can answer that question, then you can ask yourself this one: "What is it in Faulkner's story that highlights this list?" It seems to me that those things in his story that would apply no matter what language was being spoken, what god was being served, or what system of government was being lived under would be the very same things that would make this an important story around the world.
If this is an assignment question, I hope you get an excellent grade on it and either way I wish you the very best.
God bless,
Eric
