I know how hard it can be to find the balance in life. I am still learning. I have come to the conclusion that I am not going to see perfection this side of Heaven, in myself or anyone else. But I recall when I was your age I vacillated between the two extremes also. And joining a church as a young adult that tends to cultivate a sense of gnostic superiority over everyone else didn't help.
To reiterate a recent Xanga post:
The journey to God is a purification, and I have found that while it's true that as we come closer to God and He to us, we are more aware of the darkness that remains in us, we can be encouraged. He who began a good work in us will be faithful to complete it. He loves us.
