Thanks, guys. Yeah, I am a bit weary right now. Much of the problem is that I simply lack the motivation to continue putting one "scholarly" foot in front of the other right now; I have reached that point of mental fatigue where one temporarily stops caring.
Earlier in the week, I penned a note to Dr. Burling, one of my professors this semester, and this is a part of his reply:
As to your observation of being stretched too "thin," I certainly agree with you. Our program rushes students, keeping them from ever being able to dig into the material. You have identified one of the major flaws of the American (and SMSU) system. [...] The bad news is that this situation continues until very late in one's PhD program, when, at long last, after all the *#%@ coursework, one can zero in while writing the dissertation.
Sounds like a lot to look forward too, huh? :) In any case, I am certain that with some much needed rest, things will begin looking a little less "snow-like." Thanks for your cheery words.
