Jean,
I find your thoughts truly beautiful and when I encountered them here the other day they were exactly what I needed to read. It has taken me a day or two to have occasion to comment, and now that I am "stealing" a moment, I just wanted to say that I like your illustration of the moon very much. (It helps that I am a big "moon lover" and always have been.) I also find it interesting that the moon is often thought of as being feminine, a factor which could be described as the bridegroom of Christ. Of course, there is the very old pun on sun and Son, so we have the moon as the Christian, feminine, bride of the Son, reflecting His glory and splendor. By the Son, all things are not only made visible, but simply are.
One last thought, perhaps less profound, but no less winsome. You know when the moon is a few days past the new moon and it appears as a silver crescent in the sky? Do you know what I always said about the moon when it was in this phase when I was a little boy? I would look up at in wonder and say, "There's God's fingernail," thinking, of course, of seeing the clippings from my own nails when my mother would hold me down and trim them. (The problem was that she always trimmed them too closely and it hurt: hence, I didn't enjoy the experience much. She'd feel badly if I were to tell her that now: a very good mother, she obviously did not realize my dilemma, else she wouldn't have cut them so close. It never occurred to me to tell her.)
God bless,
Eric
