Hi, this is my first post. Hopefully I won't get flamed as a result.
I can't help but think that you have misunderstood what Kreeft is really saying in the article. Your main issue, as I understand, is with Kreefts endorsement of the "conservatives" as the group that maintinas Biblical principles and standards. I suppose this has something to do with you identifying yourself as a "progressive"?
The way I read the article, Kreeft's use of the term "conservative" has no political overtones. Anyone who holds on to virtues that resist change are considered a "conservative" according to Kreeft — virtues including patience, courage, and self-control; virtues that are necessary for sexual morality.
By this definition (which I believe is the author's), you are a "conservative" because you believe in sexual purity. That's why it's hard to understand why he is eventually labelled a "moralistic finger-pointing legalist."
Perhaps you have very strong feelings towards 'fundamentalists', 'legalists', etc., but I have a feeling that you might have shot the wrong arrow at the wrong person here.
