I couldn't agree more with you Eric when you say we must love people into Jesus Christ. It was His one commandment to us.
It concerns me that the church is guilty of what the educational system has been guilty of for many years, not recognizing people's uniqueness.
Just now my husband and I are preparing to go to China for a year to tell these wonderful people how much God loves them and what He has done for them.
In order to obtain our local church's support we are asked to attend mission meetings, a mission camp, etc. Their thinking is that all people going overseas need these things but they overlook the fact that each person is different and unique in their needs as well as their capabilities. Instead of looking at us as Jesus would have looked and trying to understand what our unique needs might be, they have set up generalize requirements for all people considering a mission of any length. It is done out of love but it does not feel loving. We have much to learn as a church and as individuals.
