Eric and Francis,
Thank you both for your responses, you guys have given me a lot to consider, think and pray about and a lot of information to explore, which I will definitely be doing.
I have a confession to make, I am a Methodist Preachers daughter, and was raised in the Methodist church (of course) and yet I never realized until recently, that this issue was such a matter of debate among Christians! (It's true, Eric, the older you get the more your own ignorance becomes clear to you.) Probably because as a kid, I was not paying attention, and as an Adult I have (until recently) spent all my time and energy rebelling against anything to do with Christianity. Most of my Adult life I have been what I liked to call a "Spiritual Seeker" with an attraction to Hinduism/New Age thought/Reincarnation/Spiritualism/Mystics and Mediums/Tarot Cards etc. etc. and of course in my younger days a good dose of Drugs/Sex and Rock and Roll! All this time, I really felt or believed that somehow, Free Will and predestination were paradoxically both true, and that somehow, we were all going to end up in Nirvana, because Evil was only an Illusion.
Now, as a Prodigal daughter returned home and a newly minted Christian, (something I said I would never be, but am now, Praise and thanks to God's infinite Mercy and Love) I'm having to start all over in my thinking, and it's been hard to clean out of my brain all the half truths and lies I have believed in for so long. I realize this is a process and God is doing this for me, I know, because I have put myself in his hands. So, Eric when I stumbled on your website, I could tell right away that you could be a big help and inspiration to me in my path, and you have been this last year.
Thank You.
Eric, in my opinion, those people you scared away with your last newsletter, are missing out, big time. Perhaps they should have remembered what it says in the Bible, "By their Fruits you shall know them" and "Judge not lest ye be judged, according to the standards you have judged by." (Forgive me if those aren't entirely accurate, I quoting from memory.) If these people had really spent the time to look over your website and read a lot of what you have written, they would have realized that you are really are a very solid, sane Christian individual, and should be respected for your honesty about your life and your path to God. The fruits of your faith and ministry are there for anyone to see, who will bother to look closer. Unfortunately, lots of people are just scared by anything weird or out of the ordinary and are quick to run and hide, instead of investigate. Eric, I hope you don't feel too bad about losing subscribers, I'm sure, as I know you are too, that you are Ministering to just the right people through your newsletter. Just the people whom God knows needs to hear your unique messages. Please, continue to be who you are!
God bless you,
LeeAnn
