I would not be responding except that someone I care about asked me to do this. I don't think my thoughts are that worthwhile most of the time. I do have a theory I will share. I think there are two basic kinds of people: the thinkers and the doers. Thinkers spend a lot of time in their heads just having thoughts and doing what I call mental gymnastics. Doers jump right into action. They work, they need to work, they need to do something. the thinker will say to the doer: "you better think about that befor you start to do it". The doer will respond: "if I keep thinking about it, I will never get anything done!"
the doer likes to say to the thinker: "You waste so much time just thinking. You never do anything!" and the thinker will respond: "better to think befor I leap than to make some gigatic blunder!"
I guess I believe that both kinds of people are needed. When we listen to each other we give balance to the world. I admit to being more of a doer. I think Eric, that you are more of a thinker.
How does this relate to discontent? I am not sure it does except discontent comes when we are faced with something uncomfortable to us. It takes that discomfort to get us motivated. (is that a doer speaking?) I am most discontent when I cannot do anything. A thinker is perhaps more discontent when they cannot find the answer?(I am guessing about this since I am not a thinker) When we are discontent it is because we are focusing on ourselves and what we want or think we need more than on God. And it is really not about us, is it? It is about Him and His glory. So, how to glorify God is the question, isn't it?
