I didn't mean that the article was Conservative. I meant that my feelings on this subject tend to be Conservative. I find it absolutely wonderful, and even heartening, that men whom we often consider to be hedonistic have a spiritual side. I am enthusiastic that they want to share their beliefs with their audience, as they can reach a greater number of people than many can. Because of their lifestyle, people might be inclined to listen to them. They speak "from experience" you might say. However, it is because of their lifestyle that I am troubled.
God says come out from amongst them and be ye separate. I think it is tragic that it took an event like September 11 for these rock stars to "confess" to their religious natures. Why has Aerosmith been such a popular band for over 20 years, and we are just NOW learning of Steven Tyler's belief in God? The same thing could be asked of the other bands or artists listed in the article. It is dismaying to find that they are just now telling the world about God. They have had opportunity after opportunity to do that very thing. It just disappoints me that these men, who have a wonderful chance to be powerful witnesses for Christ, are just now mentioning the Creator. How very sad.
But, I also told you that I am happy for anyone or thing that spreads the message of the Lord. The Savior will find a way to get his message out, and if he chooses to use these artists as his messenger, then who am I to be the doubter? I hope they continue to spread the Word, and do not choose to revert to their secular ways is all. I guess I will pray for them and hope that the Lost of the world will be touched somehow by these men and come to know Christ.
